At a called meeting this day held.

On motion, Ordered that no
spirituous liquors shall hereafter be received for transportation at the
Depots of this Road except at double first class rates. |
That the President notify the
Southern Express Co. that they shall carry no spirituous liquors,
otherwise notice shall be given them of the termination of the contract. |
Ordered: That the President be
authorized to make such arrangements with the Western N. C. R. R. C. as
he may deem best on conferring with Mr J. C. Turner
{Superintendent, Western North Carolina RR}
in order to relieve the accumulation of Freight, at our Depots. |
Ordered: That the President be
authorized to send Mr. Marsh {Master Machinist,
North Carolina RR} to Richmond or elsewhere to purchase two
locomotives for the use of this Road. |
A letter was read from Messrs
G. W. Mordecai and others Committee in relation to a call of a meeting
of the Stockholders to take stock in the Chatham R. R., which
proposition was declined. |
On motion of Gen MacRae the
President was authorized to appoint an additional Clerk in the
Transportation Office. |

The Proceedings of the RR
Convention in Richmond were read and the President was authorized to
make inquiries in relation to the Establishment of a Rolling Mill and
other necessary machinery at some convenient points. |
