The Board met at the call of the

On request of Mr Mebane, Mr
Cameron stated as the result of his visit to Richmond, that an interview
was held with the Chairman of Committee having the matter in charge, but
nothing was obtained comformable to the wishes of this Board
{regarding the Piedmont RR}. On motion the
Expenses of the Committee were ordered to be refunded them. |

Ordered: That Mr George
Makepease be permitted to erect a suitable warehouse for the storage of
cotton on the Company's land at High Point, under the supervision of Mr.
Sullivan, provided that such erection shall in no way endanger the
property of the Company. |
Mr. Cameron offered his
resignation as President, much regret was expressed and after refusing
to release him the Board reluctantly consented. |
On motion of Mr Hawkins the
Board proceeded to elect a new President. Messrs Hawkins & Gorrell were
appointed as Tellers and after several ballots, Mr Thomas Webb was
declared duly elected, having received seven votes. |
