The Board met at the call of
the President. Present: |

K. P. Battle President Chatham
R R was also present. |
Mr Barringer from Committee
reported that the Contract with the Chatham R. R. had been drawn up; but
the Committee had considered it advisable that it should be signed by
the President. The contract was then read, debated and amended and as
amended was ordered to be signed by the President. |
The President submitted a Deed
for 734 1/4 acres of land bought of Geo W Collier which was approved. |
A letter was read from H. W.
Guion {President, Wilmington, Charlotte &
Rutherford RR} asking this Co to subscribe $100 for each mile of
its Road towards the erection of a Rolling Mill on Deep River with the
understanding that the subscription could be withdrawn if the plans when
submitted should not be satisfactory. Which was agreed to. |
The President and
Superintendent were authorized to settle for Mrs D. J. Hill's negro
killed by the Train, on the best terms possible. |
