J. D. Whitford, Esq.
Goldsboro, N. C.

Sir,
I have just received a communication from the Hon. Charles F. M. Garnett, Commissioner for the distribution of Iron, informing me that he had requested you to forward me three hundred and fifty yards of Railroad Iron. May I beg that you will send this iron with the least possible delay, as it is of vital importance to the Government that my warehouse should be connected by a track to the Piedmont & N. C. Railroads, in order that supplies may be sent forward with all possible dispatch.
Very Respectfully
Your ob't serv't.
