An Act to Amend the Charter of the Piedmont Railroad Company
 
   Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That an ordinance of the State Convention, ratified on the 8th day of February, 1862, entitled "an ordinance to incorporate the Piedmont Railroad Company," be so amended as to authorize and empower the said company to alter the guage of the said road by widening the same to five feet, or to such other guage as to make it correspond with the guage of the Richmond & Danville Railroad: Provided, That the company shall restore the present guage within six months after the termination of the present war, or forfeit their charter.
   Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That His Excellency, Gov. Vance, be requested to transmit a certified copy of this act to the Secretary of War of the Confederate States, and that the same shall take effect and be in full force as soon as the Legislature of the State of Virginia shall re-enact the same.
