Mr J. D. Whitford {President, Atlantic & North Carolina RR}

Dear Friend,

   Mr Harrison informs me that he has made arrangements for getting off his effects in Trains now here and will not need any more.
   I have seen several parties here that wish to get off freight, and as I am anxious to get my furniture to Goldsboro. I think we can load 8 or 10 cars. Please do me the favor to send your train with the above number of cars, and I will pay the bill.
   All I have in the world outside the Yankee lines, is here and I want to save it, if possible.
   Please let me know by return mail when to look for the train, that I may be all ready.
Your friend truly
H. T. Hancock
