General,
I respectfully request the detail of Private George W. Reid of Moores Battery, Co E 10th Reg N. C. S. to work in the Machine Shops of this company. His services are greatly needed by this company. We find great difficulty in keeping up our engines and the constant & repeated "Raids" of the enemy adds much to this difficulty.
I am authorised by Capt A. D. Moore commanding to say that he approves the detail & will readily consent to ??? ??? made.
I a respectfully Your obt Svt
