| I am directed by Genl. Lee to acknowledge
the receipt of your note of this morning, and to say that he has no more
reliable news than that you give him of the near approach of the enemy
to the Va. Central R. R. He thinks however it wd be advisable for you to
stop the down train at Hanover Junction and not to send out the up
train, until something more positive is know of the enemy's movements.
He will at once refer your note to Genl. Johnston for his information.
The ammunition for Genl. Jackson might be sent by the Fredcksg R.
{Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR} to
Hanover Junction & thence taken by your road to its destination. |
