NA, SWT 11/4/1862

Richmond, Nov. 4th 1862

General G. T. Beauregard
Charleston, S. C.

The Secretary of the Navy thinks that by removing four hundred and sixty-one tons of iron {about 4 1/2 miles} from the Brunswick {& Albany} road he will not materially injure the road for military purposes and will get one more ironclad vessel at Savannah. Grant the permission if you think it can be safely done. Communicate with the Secretary's Agent, J. G. Minor, at the Pulaski House, Savannah.
G. W. Randolph
Secretary of War
