| I have the honor to transmit
herewith contract in quadruplicate between Capt W. Prescott, A. Q. M. on
the part of C. S. Govt. & John C. French, Prest. San Antonio & M. Gulf
R. Road {San Antonio & Mexican Gulf RR} for
use of said Road for Govt service, which I would respectfully ask to be
laid before the Major Genl. Comd for his approval. |
| The contracting party on the
part of the R. Road Company is anxious to have the contract completed,
that he may be ready at any moment to comply with it with reference to
our present position on the coast & bays. |
