Col. A. C. Myers |
Quarter Mr Genl. C. S. A. |
Richmond Va |
|
Sir, |
Finding it impossible to do
justice to the Raleigh & Gaston Rail Road Co as President, and to the
Government as Assistant Quarter Master, I have tendered my resignation
through the Adjutant General of date this day. |
I think perhaps it should have
been transmitted through you but being ignorant of the forms and
requirements of such matters I also hereby tender it through you and beg
its early acceptance. |
The difficulties attending
Rail Road Management are so great that with all my time I cannot do
justice to the Government transportation and the requirements of the
Community. |
I would respectfully recommend
Mr. Richard Anington of Warrenton, N. C. (distant 3 miles from this
place) as a very suitable person to fill the vacancy, he is every way
qualified energetic a gentleman of character and superior business
habits and familiar with this whole section of country. |
I am Sir with great respect |
Very Respectfully |
Your Obdt Servant |
W. J. Hawkins |
Captain & AM |
