| In reply to that portion of your letter of
the 12th inst., which relates to the removal and disposition of the iron
and rolling stock of the Seaboard & Roanoke R. R. I am directed by Genl.
Lee to say, that he has referred the matter to the Qr. Masr. General,
who replies that he "has seen the Supt. of the road, who has now gone to
Weldon and will in a few days report the quantity of rails & equipment
that he has to dispose of" and that he "desires to purchase all the
rails and a portion of the equipment." |
