| I am informed that the connection in the
City of Petersburg, between your road, and the road from Petersburg to
Weldon {Petersburg RR}, is imperfect, and
cannot be effectively used by reason of some defect in the construction
of the connecting track. I desire that this defect shall be removed as
speedily as possible and wish to know whether any aid or authority from
the Government be necessary to accomplish this object. I have written to
the Presdt of the Petersburg & Weldon road, and if you can confer with
him, and suggest what measures would most speedily and effectually
complete the connection between the two roads, any assistance that I can
afford shall be rendered as soon as I am advised by you what is
necessary to be done. |
