General, |
As directed in Special order
No 11, I had established a triweekly line of trains between New
Orleans and Richmond Va. This line has been broken by the possession
of a part of the Memphis & Charleston Railroad by the enemy.
I respectfully ask permission to transfer the Locomotives and Cars of
the Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad, now west of Iuka, to the
Southern Central Railroad {Southern (of
Mississippi) RR}, connecting Vicksburg with the Mobile &
Ohio Road at Meridian. This line well supplied with Rolling Stock will
transport the large amount of Sugar and Molasses now accumulating at
Vicksburg for points on & east of the Alabama Rover. |
Very Respectfully |
