Dear Sir, |
We are transporting from Memphis to this
place a large amount of Government supplies and Ordnance Stores for
Columbus Miss and other points on the Mobile & Ohio Rail Road. In
order to prevent our Road at this place from being blocked it is
absolutely necessary the Mobile & Ohio Road should remove the
freight on arrival I have made application to Col Fleming Genl
Superintendent of the Road & he informs me he will take only 15
car load per day I have also made application to Maj Hurt Military
Supt of Rail Roads who promises but does not execute It will be
impossible for us to transport the supplies from Memphis & keep
our Road open here unless the Mobile & Ohio Road will receive the
freight from us on arrival here. It is impossible for me to run trains
on time with my side tracks as well as the main track constantly
blockaded with Government freight will you please issue such orders as
will secure the necessary result |
Very Respectfully |
