Col,
Your letter of yesterday was not received until late last evening. I regret the difficulty in supplying you with shingles. The whole trouble is in transportation. There are now ten or twelve thousand shingles at the Arsenal now which you are welcome to. There are also at the rail road (Arsenal works near Butler {probably on the South Western RR}) some 60 or 70000 which are for you as soon as they can be brought. If you can get cars to go for them any time next week I will give orders to deliver them to you.
If you cannot get cars, I will give orders to send them up positively by wood train on next Saturday.
Yrs very Respectfully
Rich M. Cuyler
Lt Col Comdg
