We have been burnished with
permission from Maj. Sheely C. S. S. D. W. Va to purchase & ship
supplies on the line of the V&T RR, & within his department,
but it forbids us shipping them out of the Department. |
In case of Raids we are
desirous of shipping the larger portion of them to Lynchburg, for safe
keeping, free from impressment en route, & while there. We
would respectfully ask permission from you to ship them to Lynchburg,
as we think they would be safe there from the enemy. |
We ask this favor upon the
grounds that we are willingly & heavily taxed feeding passing
soldiers who are without means to pay for something to eat. |
