Sir,
The ballance of the stores for Coln Mallet has come to hand making five boxes & one bll sulphur in all. I am sorry to say that Capt Borkett Transportation Quartermaster of this place was ordered on yesterday to Washington had he been here he would have assisted me in getting Coln Mallet Ordinance on over the Break Maj Throckmorton is now in command and I assure you is very obstinate in his ways. and says he has instruction to send all the waggons to Washington as soon as they arrive instead of Augusta as I wrote to you on day before yesterday and says he do not know when Coln Mallet stores will be sent to Milledgeville and furthermore says he should received official orders himslef to forward them on at once. I told him the necessity of the case. I also said to him that Coln Mallet was superintendent of the Capp factory for the Army and that these stores was the materials for that purpose and that Coln Mallet was greatly in need of them he said that made no difference to him. as I am very anxious to take them through and not knowing how long I will be compelled to remain here. I have also written to Coln Rains forwarding Agt as well as yourself to request Coln Rains to have a special order sent to Major Throckmorton to have Coln Mallet stores forwarded through at once The weather here is very disagreeably raining for several days a great many Govt stores are here and some exposed to the weather. The stores under my charge I have in the warehouse.
Very Respectfully
George H. Ash
