Major,
Yours of 7th to hand. I shipped the car load coal (15,750 lbs) to you, per C. S. Canal Boat "Malvern," on Saturday, the 7th & was just writing to inform you of shipment when your letter came to hand
The above was delayed at this post Four days for want of Boat
You say the Coal was shipped by Mr. J. H. Adams from Christiansburg "the 30th September." You no doubt meant to say the 30th October.
It is a great pleasure to me to be able to dispatch business promptly, but our means of Transpn being at times limited, I am sometimes prevented from so doing.
Very Respectfully Yours,
T. W. Howard
