Sir |
Yours of Nov 10th enclosing your ck for
$100 for amount of nail Bill has come safe to hand; As yet I have been
able to ship nothing; the R Road here {North
Carolina RR} being completely blocked up at this point there
has not a freight train gone out from here for some ten days or more;
will ship Blooms as soon as possible; The furnaces are now in
operation again & making Pig Metal; do you wish me to secure it;
from them as I have the refusal of it if we wish it; Genl Huger was
here a few days since & appears to think that the Dept would want
all the Blooms & Pig Iron that they could possibly get; I recd a
letter from Mr Pride just before I left for Richmond desiring me to
secure all the cows hair that I could. I have now ready for shipment
between two & three hundred bushels which will ship as soon as
possible; please let me hear from you (whether I shall get the pig
metal or not) at once. |
very respectfully |
