   This day personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said District John Spence and made oath that he was in the employment of the Confederate States under the direction of Capt Thos R. Sharp AQM removing Balto & Ohio Railroad Engines and Materials and to his knowledge Two impressed Horses died viz: one on the Valley Turnpike near Winchester in December 1861, one died at Mt Crawford about the middle of March 1862, in the performance of the above service and owing to their condition from hard labor their ownership could not be identified.
