Dear Sir,
   I have the honor to ask for the extension of the detail of Private M. A. Boley Co D 8th Reg't Ala Volunteers to work as car builder on the Ala & Tenn River Railroad, where he is at present employed under detail date June 23rd 1864.
   His services are indispensably necessary for the efficient operation of the Railroad which will be certified on oath.

Res. forwarded for the action of the Hon Sec of War who can best decide where the mans services are most needed. If really indispensable to the operation of the Rail Road no objection will be urged to a continuance of the detail for 60 days: meanwhile every exertion should be made to supply his place from those out side of the army or incapable of performing active service.
