Capt,
   Upon learning of the danger that the Trinity River Bridge was in from drift wood brought down by the freshet, I immediately called upon Col. Jones, Actg Chf of Staff, and reported the same, and made requisition for such assistance as appeared to me necessary, and instructed the Supt (W. W. Morris) of the T & NO RRoad {Texas & New Orleans RR} to report to Col Jones for such instructions as he might see fit to give.
   I request that this may be brought to the knowledge of the Commdg Genl in order that he may see that I have not neglected my duty.

P. S. As soon as I learned these facts, I ??? an order to Labor Bureau for twenty negroes. I saw the Supt & they went down on an extra train last night.
