| I fear I will not be able to do any duty
for six weeks if not for two months. I would like as soon as I am well
enough to travel to go to Columbus and remain there until I am well, I
would like also to be released from any responsibility as to the
repairs of the Rail Roads until I am well enough to give them my
personal attention. I have succeeded in repairing the Southern {(of
Mississippi)} Road
& its cars are now running to Brandon & can run to Jackson but
it is not advisable for them to run there until the turn table at
Pearl river is finished. It was a good move for me to bring my
carpenters over on this road, for if I had not done so I do not
believe this road would have been running in six weeks yet if not some
a longer time. Please give the necessary papers to Capt Williams &
he will bring them to me. |
