Selma March 11th 1864

To the Hon James A Seddon
Secretary of War

Sir,
The Alabama & Tennessee River Railroad requires the services of Private M. A. Boley Co D 8th Ala Regt Saunders Brigade, Anderson's Division, as carbuilder. I have therefore respectfully to ask that he may be detailed for this service
The condition of our Rolling stock is such that without an increase of our force of mechanics it will be impossible to perform the transportation required for the Government and Country. They cannot be procured outside the Army.
Mr Boley was disabled by a wound at Gettysburg, and has since been employed in our Shops. He is a skilful and experienced workman and is a very efficient man in the carshop.
Very Respectfully
W Rothrock
