| Your orders require me to report that Capt.
G. G. Thompson, A. Q. M. at Orange C. H. has improperly furnished
transportation to two officers from Orange C. H. to Richmond, a distance
of 85 miles {Orange & Alexandria RR and Virginia
Central RR}, to be charged against him upon the books of the
Treasury. Maj. Ch. M. Smith will inform you of the rate per mile which
the Government has to pay, when the "money value thereof" will be
ascertained. |
