Col, |
It having to been represented to me by the
Superintendent of the Memphis & Charleston Road that an attempt
may be made to destroy two bridges at or near Pocahontas on the line
of said road. And this road being of the greatest importance to the
Confederate States to keep open our lines of transportation and
communication for troops and munitions of war as well as mail matter
you are directed to furnish a detail of two commissioned officers and
thirty rank & file from your command to guard said bridges or perform any
duties requisite thereto, as shall appear to the superintendent of the
R Road to be necessary. Should you not be able to arm and equip this
detail in full the ordnance dept will supply the deficiency upon
requisition if practicable. |
I am Col |
Very Respectfully yours |
