Major,
Colonel Corley has telegraphed that he has nearly consumed the surplus of corn accumulated from the recent shipments to the Army of Northern Virginia. Major Maynard's morning reports shows that he had on hand yesterday 4653 bushels, of which quantity 2856 bushels were sent to Major Richards and 572 issued otherwise leaving on hand this morning only 1225 bushels.
Your attention is called to this statement as exhibiting the necessity of shipments from the South, to Richmond, being resumed at the earliest practicable moment.
By order etc
J. B. Hodge, Major etc
