Quartermaster General's Department
Richmond, 7th August 1862

Major J S Calhoun
Montgomery Ala

Sir,
Captain Wright ordnance officer at Atlanta, Georgia, has reported to the Chief of Ordnance that the Cap Factory at that place has been nearly idle, because transportation has not been furnished for the necessary copper from Montgomery.
It is important that this article should be promptly supplied and you are accordingly instructed to have it transported from Montgomery, without any delay.
The report that transportation could not be obtained for the sheet Copper was made by Captain Wagner to Capt Wright.
