Quartermaster General's Department
Richmond June 29, 1863

Major M. Morfit
QM
Wilmington, N. C.

Sir,
The Ticket Agent of the WWRR {Wilmington & Weldon RR} at Wilmington represents that furloughed soldiers, entitled to transportation, are compelled to purchase tickets, or be subject to delay, because the Quarter Master, whose duty it is to furnish transportation, does not open or keep open his office at hours to correspond with the departure of the trains.
I have to direct that you investigate this subject, and have the office opened at such hours as will enable soldiers leaving on the cars, to procure transportation.
A. C. Myers, Q. M. Genl.
