Quartermaster General's Department |
Richmond, Va. June 24, 1861 |
|
General G. T. Beauregard |
Commanding |
at Manassas Junction |
Virginia |
|
General, |
Major L. Smith the Assistant Qr. Master at
this post, has just reported to me, the fact that upon the arrival of
troops at Manassas, they are sometimes delayed in the cars several
hours, and at times as many as ten hours, the Superintendent makes no
complaint of this, but he states that the transportation of other
troops is interfered with, the rolling stock being somewhat limited,
and all of it being necessary for the constant demands made upon it. |
I desire you to give the necessary orders
to enable the cars to be returned to Richmond as soon as possible, by
emptying them of men and freight. |
A. C. Myers, A. Q. M. Genl. |
