Sir,
   It is the desire of the War Department that you give preference in all cases to Government stores, munitions etc over private freights; and that you forward the same within twenty four hours of the delivery at your deport or wharf. When the supplies are to pass beyond the terminus of your line, I desire that you will notify, by telegram, when that can be done, otherwise by mail, the officers of the connecting line, and the Quarter Master of the Post at your terminus, as to the quantity of stores shipped, and the time of their arrival, so that both may be prepared to forward them without delay.
