| By the assent of the Sect. of
War, you will pay to the Southern {(of
Mississippi)} R. Road Company the amount heretofore withheld
from them, to abide the investigation as to their liability for the
value of certain cotton lost on said Road. The Sect. holds that the
amounts due them for current business will constitute sufficient
security to the Govt. |
| You will please give your
early attention to the full investigation as to the liability of the
company for the value of the cotton referred to, & report thereon
to this office. |
