| Yours of the 3rd ins. reporting that suit
has been entered against you by the N. C. R. R. Co damages laid at
$100,000 has been received & was forwarded to the Hon. Sect. War with
the recommendation that you be allowed to employ counsel to defend the
suit. It has been returned today with the following endorsement from
Sect of War "Capt Divine may be authorized to employ counsel. Instruct
him to make a contract for a specific fee & to report the amount for
your (My) approval." You are therefore hereby instructed to carry out
the above orders, to employ at a fixed fee & to report the same to this
office for approval. |
