| A communication from Mr S D Watson Transportation Agent
of the State of Alabama brings to the notice of this Department an
instance of unnecessary delay, which occurred at Petersburg with
transportation from that place, of certain voluntary contributions of
clothing & hospital stores for soldiers in service for that state. |
| The great importance of the speedy transportation to
soldiers in the field of articles of necessity and comfort contributed
by their friends at home will be readily appreciated by you, and I bring
this instance of delay to your attention with the request that you will
give such instructions as will prevent its occurrence or similar cases
hereafter. |
