Sir,
It is important that your operations for the removal of machinery etc from the Baltimore & Ohio Rail Road should be resumed at the earliest practicable moment. The boilers etc for the use of the War Department in the construction of gunboats are needed at once, and you will make every effort to have them forwarded at once, with dispatch. Have the necessity for the immediate resumption of your operations communicated to Gen. Jackson, that the means of transportation taken from you may be restored so soon as it can be done.
