Qr Mr Genls office |
Feby 10, 1863 |
Respectfully submitted to the Secretary of
War. The report of Capt Echols but repeats the representations in regard
to the utterly inefficient management of the N. C. RRd
{North Carolina RR} constantly made to this
office. Every effort has been made by the Qr Mr Dept to have the
subsistence stores detained at Charlotte promptly moved forward but for
the reasons detailed by Capt E these efforts have proved unavailing. In
view of the incompetency of the authorities of the road not to refer to
the fact stated in this report that private freights by express
are removed. I deem it my duty to suggest for the consideration of the
Secretary a recommendation I have hitherto fore made that the Govt
should take military possession of this road. |
