Says he has determined to attempt to get ice by erecting shallow pools in the mountains in his state and to put up a large quantity. Asks authority to transport it on the Rail Roads and to house it in Columbia. Says he will furnish all the Govt needs at cost.

Nov 5th 1862. Transportation can be afforded, if delivered at a Railway Station and due notice given. Mason Morfit Capt & AQM
Nov 6th 1862. Respectfully returned to the Sec of War and his attention is called to Capt Morfit's answer. A C Myers QM Genl
