Dear Sir,
|
Yours of the 31st ult. to Mr Stagg has been turned over
to me.
|
When articles are specially ordered to be sent by
Passenger trains, we always charge double rates. The C. S. Gov't pays
us in that way. See our Tariff art 20.
|
Our charges from Turn Outs in all cases are from the
Station beyond, and it is always expect that the parties do the
loading & unloading.
|
The reason of this is obvious. We always have to send a car specially
for the accommodation of the shipper; and it must always go to the
point empty, whereas at regular stations, no special sending of empty
cars for freight is required. And as the Company has no ware house,
and no servants at Turn Outs, the owners of freight must necessarily
do the work. We have turn outs to save owners from hauling and those
who use them, have the advantage.
|
Very Respectfully
|
