Sir, |
At the instance of our most influential
citizens I respectfully solicit the appointment of Depositary at this
point. |
This is the center of a large section of
wealthy country in which a large amount of money is held. The Bank of
Commerce is located here and will have a large amount to be handled.
The R. R. Co. will also take to fund a large amount which will be
daily swelled by our receipts and it would be very inconvenient to
send these large amounts daily to Raleigh or Greensboro. These two
towns are 84 miles apart leaving a large section including the
important towns of Hillsboro and Graham unprovided for. |
I am not subject to conscription having
been Secretary of this Road for some years past. |
In conclusion permit me to state that I
think my appointment would be very acceptable to the community and
that I am very sure that all the duties would be faithfully performed. |
Very Respectfully |
John H. Bryan Jr |
