Macon, Ga., July 14th 1863

Mr. Jno. C. Epps
Griswoldville, Ga.

Sirs,
I am informed that on Saturday morning last you were duly notified that a train for wood would be sent down to you yesterday.
A train of 18 cars were sent, but returned empty, there being no one on the ground to load the wood.
I must state that I shall hold you responsible as per agreement, for such charge as the R. R. Co. may make for this train. The R. R. Co. further refuse, I understand, to send for any more of your wood until they have assurance that the time of the hands & trains will not be wasted.
I am, Sir, &c.
J. W. Mallet Major
