Mr J. E. Tooke
Marshallville

Sir,
Since writing to you yesterday I am informed by the Agent of the South Western Railroad Co., that, owing to some change in their freight arrangements and the want of a sufficient number of engine drivers to put on more engines, they will not be able to send a train to Marshallville for wood tomorrow.
This is very annoying to me especially as I had written you that the train would go down, but it cannot be helped.
I shall use every exertion to get off a train as soon as possible, and as frequently thereafter as possible, and I can only report what I have already said to you that you will not be held responsible fr such delay as to the time of fulfilling your contract as may be caused by the failure of the Railroad Co. to haul.
I am, Sir,
Respectfully &c
J W Mallet, Capt.
Supt. C. S. Laboratories
