Genl. P. T. Beauregard
Jackson, Ten.

Sir,
I understand that it will be necessary to keep a guard stationed at the Hatchie Bridge, on the Mississippi Central Road, the bridge being several miles north of Bolivar.
I propose to raise a Company for the purpose, if you will be pleased to communicate such authority to me. The Company to be organized and mustered in the Confederate Service, but with the understanding that they will be detailed for the above mentioned local defence, as long as such defence may be necessary
Very respectfully
Your obt. Svt.
Danl. S. Webb
