| Dear Sir, |
| If the C&SC RR. {Charlotte
& South Carolina RR} will
receipt for Govt. freights at Charlotte transportation by E Tenn &
Ga Trains, the E Ten & Ga R R will pay one half the loss that may
occur ????? trains whether the freights ???? by C&SC RR or So Ca
RR {South Carolina RR}. If you can make arrangements whereby the three Companies will
agree to become equally responsible for lost freights said E Tenn
& Ga trains, this Company will pay one third for lost freights by
their trains, and the C&SC & So. Ca. R. R. the other two
thirds, we do not wish to receipt for freights, because there would
always be a difficulty between the other roads as to when the freights
were lost and the command holding our receipt would hold us
responsible for the whole loss. The ????? to do all in our power for
the Govt and at the same time must ????? |
