Captain,
   Your letter of 24th June, stating that you can do nothing in regard to collecting RR material, has been received. The Commissioners for collecting railroad iron &c were requested to write to you some days since, on the subject, and it is presumed that you have received their letter.
   I desire you to remain a while longer at your post, within reach of the army, as an opportunity may yet occur (if it has not already done so) of saving RR material.
