enclosing letter from Col. Fontaine relative to the use of iron by the
Government, belonging to {Virginia} Central R. Rd. Co. |
| "Respectfully referred to Major I. M.
St. John, Chf of Nitre & Mining Bureau, with the request that he
will fix with Mr. Whitcomb a fair value for the within iron; or take
such other steps as will lead to a final and satisfactory adjustment
of the account. This Bureau will endeavor if possible to assist in the
collection and forwarding the iron to Richmond." |
