Captain,
I am in receipt of a communication from Lt Col F W Sims, Supt of RR Transportation, the following extract from which I desire to bring to your notice.
"It is not unlikely that a portion of Tennessee may be reclaimed during the summer. If so, the bridges on Nashville & Chattanooga and E Tenn & Ga RRds will have to be created. I would suggest therefore a collection of timber of suitable sizes at Macon and the framing to be done, so that the work could be completed without delay. All the information necessary could be obtained from the Superintendents of these roads now in Georgia."
Please inform me whether the plan suggested by Col Sims be in your opinion feasible and whether the execution of it can, under present circumstances, be undertaken by the Engineer Dept in your vicinity.
Yours Very Respy
A. L. Rives
Lt Col &c &c
