Prest {Richmond &} York River R. Rd. Co. dated Richmond Febry 24th 1863, asking
that the slaves of Mr. Geo. M. Savage of Henrico County be exempted
from work on fortifications as he is under contract for supplying the
Qr. Mr. Dept. with wood. |
| "Will Mr. Geo. D. Pleasants sheriff
of Henrico County, Virginia please to allow the one negro of Mr. Geo.
M. Savage to remain in his present employment and consider said negro
as one of the quota furnished for labor on fortifications." |
