Endorsement on letter from Col D F M Garnett dated Richmond Oct 9th/63 requesting an application to the Commissary General for authority for Mr Burns to purchase meat for his hands employed in taking up railroad iron.
   Engineer Bureau Oct 10th 1863. Respectfully referred to Col. Northrop with favorable recommendation. Mr Burn's force of 80 hands will be at work for a month or six weeks in saving the Brunswick {& Albany} Railroad iron, now greatly needed by the Government.
