Captain,
This letter, along with the accompanying drawings of Pontoons & Pontoon Wagons, will be presented you by Maj. S. W. Presstman of the Corps of Engineers. Maj. Presstman is very desirous to provide the Army of Tennessee with the requisite supply of Pontoons desires you will assist him in this as far as lies in your power. In case it should be determined by Genl. Leadbetter to construct these Pontoons upon the regular plan, a variety of irons &c. will be required, the manufacture of which it is supposed that the work shops of Atlanta offer unusual possibilities. Your earnest cooperation & aid are requested in this as well as in other matters connected with the collection of materials and the construction of the boats & wagons.
Yours Very Respy
A. L. Rives
Lt Col & Acting Chief Engr. Bu.
